Brodhead preschool has been learning about the public infrastructure part of civics. We have been learning how schools, fire departments, stores, homes and other buildings are created. We have been learning how roads are created. We have compared buildings created in cities vs. rural areas. Key vocabulary words such as architecture, blue print, skyscrapers, foundation have been a focus.
Students were architects building a plan for their own homes then created their homes using shapes. Next we offered a variety of blocks and building tools to create and build with. Creating skyscrapers were a fan favorite and dressing up as construction workers and using tools in our dramatic play area.
