6th Grade Social Studies Pyramid Projects

In Mr. Cole’s 6th grade Social Studies class at Knox County Middle School, students had the opportunity to create a replica of an Ancient Egyptian pyramid, and it was one of the most interesting projects we’ve done this year. As we worked on our pyramids, students learned how the Egyptians used math, engineering, and teamwork to build massive structures without modern technology. Designing our models helped us understand why pyramids were built as tombs for pharaohs and how they reflect Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. This project also challenged students to be creative and patient, especially when measuring, cutting, and assembling the pieces. Overall, building the pyramid made history feel more real and helped students see how Ancient Egypt’s achievements still influence the world today.
