Fifth grade students at Menifee Central recently combined civics, creativity, and technology by using Canva AI to design their own games about the three branches of government. Working in groups, students researched the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches, then used Canva’s AI tools to design a game.
Through this project, students demonstrated their understanding of checks and balances, separation of powers, and key civics vocabulary—all while building collaboration, critical thinking, and digital design skills. The finished games allowed students to learn from one another by playing and explaining how the three branches of government work together.
This engaging activity highlighted how technology and AI can be used as powerful learning tools to deepen student understanding of important civic concepts in a fun and meaningful way.
