Our 5th graders proudly demonstrated what it means to be active, engaged citizens during this year’s Veterans Day celebration. Through music, spoken word, and acts of gratitude, students honored the men and women who have served our country while learning the importance of civic responsibility, respect, and service to others.
The program opened with a powerful performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” reminding all viewers of the ideals our nation stands for. Students then performed “Veterans March,” reflecting both pride and appreciation for the bravery of those who protect our freedoms.
One of the most meaningful moments came during “America the Beautiful”, which students performed using sign language. This thoughtful addition emphasized inclusion, unity, and the many diverse ways we can communicate gratitude.
The performance concluded with a heartfelt rendition of “God Bless the USA” followed by a student-led prayer asking for protection over our service members and expressing thanks for the freedoms we enjoy.
Student speakers played an important role throughout the program, sharing reflections about the meaning of Veterans Day, the value of sacrifice, and the responsibilities each of us has as citizens. Their words reinforced the idea that honoring our Veterans also means striving to be responsible, respectful members of our community. Through this performance, our 5th graders demonstrated that civic responsibility begins with understanding, gratitude, and respect. We are proud of their hard work and the meaningful tribute they offered to our Veterans and community.
